Modern
printing techniques make it economical to transfer colour or black-and-white
photos to Photo-Satin quilt squares. Then, using your favourite
techniques, you can piece or applique these blocks into an heirloom
quilt, pillow or wall-hanging that future generations will treasure
for decades. Or, if you do not want to spend weeks making a quilt,
we will help you to find a suitable custom-quilter!
Colour Photo Quilt Squares from Plan 'B'
Photo Quilt Squares from Plan 'B' are imprinted (NOT just printed)
on Photo-Satin fabric. With our imprinting process the pigments
are deposited (through pressure and high temperature) directly into
the satin fibres, so that the image is as durable and as permanent
as the fabric itself.
Other
methods of printing full-colour images on fabric leave a certain
"feel" or "hand" to the fabric because they rely on a coating deposited
on the surface of the fabric. With inferior methods, the colours
can sometimes bleed or fade, crack or peel as that coating ages
and dries out. The imprinting process, however, leaves no feel or
"hand" since the colour pigments that make up the image are deposited
inside the fibres that form the fabric. Imprinting is permanent!
The incomparable detail and depth of colour achieved with the imprinting
process will last the life of the quilt. A handmade quilt represents
too much time and too much effort not to use the best, most permanent
materials available. Isn't it comforting to know that Plan 'B's
Photo Satin imprinting process is comparable in cost to less durable
methods of printing your precious full-colour (or black-and-white)
images on fabric?

Photo Quilt Prices
Our standard-size quilt blocks are 8 1/2"x11". You may supply photographs
up to that size, and we will scan them and print them on Photo-Satin
(please specify glossy or matte finish) at same-size for $12.00.
Smaller photos will be scanned and printed together on the standard-sized
quilt block, leaving a 1/2" border around each image to allow for
sewing. Photos or images larger than 8 1/2"x11" can be reduced (at
additional cost), or can be printed at original size (up to 16"x20").
The scanning process does not damage your original photographs,
and they will be returned to you in their original condition. Larger
size prints (up to mural size!) available by special arrangement.
If you have questions, please don't hesitate to call! Together we
can work through any problems or special requests you may have.
Great for Fund-raising, too! Incorporate photos from your local
Historical Society in a quilt sold (or raffled) to benefit the Historical
Society (or your church, school or community group)!
When you're ready to preserve and display your
family or community history
on an heirloom quilt or spread, give us a call!
